OK I know there are many threads about how fast my strings died but.....i've never had this happen

i put new strings on monday....played a gig friday...took the bass out to play sunday...and they were all just DEAD....and i mean dead....no snap left at all....DEEEAAAAADDDDD...i like my strings worn in...but this was pretty bad....

The bar was pretty dirty and smokey....did they just get killed by the bar?

bad pack?

i doubt it was something i did eh???

guess i'll be getting some denatured alch today....

I can deaden my strings in about a week of gigs, I've always used Roto Swing 66, never tried anything else...a buddy brought me his 62 Jazz, and I asked him if they were new strings...he said no...about 8 years old...I was blown away!

This guy plays exclusively with a pick, so I would imagine that would make em last longer...I play very aggressively, and move alot, so I sweat lots. Probably why I deaden strings fast. At one point I was changing strings $55 a week.

I'm positive that the smoke didn't help your strings and may have lead to their early death...oh well, take em off, boil em in water with a bit of vinegar for about 5 - 10 mins, and voila, almost as good as new.

You got to try using denatured alcohol. I had the same problems as you. I can literally destroy strings in 1 show. But I resurrect them with Denatured alcohol overnight.

It works.
