I don't have a ton of experience with different rounds, but one set I've found to have similar fat bottom to Labella DT flats are the Labella DT rounds, strangely enough.

They had the voice of flats but the attack of rounds, with a bit more top but not much zing. I didn't really see the point of them for my own use, as I like rounds for grind and growl, and flats for fat and smooth, to oversimplify.

DR

no question DR Low rider nickels

the eq point that defines the note on these DR strings is in the low mids

cheaper strings and steel strings tend to have overly hyped upper mids and highs

^ Having tried a set, I'd buy that religion. Great strings.

I have no complaints with the MTD's I've been using, however. Plentiful lows, and they feel (and sound) great across the entire range.

I love the DR Lo-Riders, but I find them well balanced with a decent low mids push rather than having a huge fat bottom like some other strings.

What I want to know is what round wound strings have that fat bottom, and still has good highs for slap.

How about DR Lo-Rider SS? I'm currently running them on my Sadowsky and I love 'em.

Try D'Addario ProSteels! They have a deep, tight bottom, but with clear mids and chiming highs.
