Why are you wanting to change? What are you looking for sound wise?

I use a pick and get a pretty bright sound w/ sting and fret noise. I would like a deep rich sound w/ little/ srting fret noise. Kinda considering groundwounds, or Silencers. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Don't go instantly flat. Try groundwound or compressionwound first... Flat may happen to be too dull...

Yea im lovin my d'addario half rounds 45-105 although i dont play with a pick (mostly because im a MAN) haha jk its your perogative. but i definately think flatwounds would sound bad on a schecter, i had a stilletto elite 4 and loved it dearly.

IMHO, you have very little risk in trying new strings of any kind. Admittedly, strings cost $. However, I just bought a set of D'Addario Chromes (XL) and a set of Ernie Ball Flatwounds (light) at a local music store. Total cost was about $55. Finding the right strings for a given sound you have in mind is really important, IMHO.

My advice is to avoid any flatwound set that has an E string over.100 gauge. .105 is way too stiff for most instruments, IMHO. Unless you have a graphite reinforced neck, it will warp, and the truss rod will crush the wood inside the neck. Soon, you need a new neck. I have been there. Also, I find high tension strings to have a much blander tone than lighter strings. All IMHO.

Which bass had this problem? I prefer flats with a G string of 50 or bigger, which means a 105 set. But I only play P basses, so fairly large necks.

I have a Fender made in Mexico 1996 P-Bass I use as a back up to my 1973 Fender P-bass ( A neck). Flats ( D'addario Chromes ) on both Basses 105-50 no neck problems at all. Flats on the M.I.M. P-Bass since 1997. Flats in the 1973 since 1994. I would not go higher than that gauge. I have had no neck warping at all.

Thumbs up Flats!

P-Basses and wide necked basses can handle heavy guage flats. If you have a thin necked bass I wouldn't put the extra stress on it. For the Schecter I would go with these...
