Just received them - quick enough considering the website warns that they only ship out once a week. I'm pretty happy with the size of the "E" and it is the only string that I will have to drill out the hole in the bridge and file out the nut for. I'm going to honor the maker's request and not reveal the gauges - or it will be "No strings for you!" in the future . If anybody's gonna be at the GTG in RI next Saturday I'll have my Mikro strung up with them there .
EDIT> Note strikeout above (didn't need to drill the bridge). The "E" took very little nut filing to fit - I could almost use the string as a "file" to do it on my plastic nut. I carefully widened it with a welder tip cleaner I had and did use the string itself to "polish" it. The "E" alone sounds and looks just like the D'Addario XL's that came on the bass (45 65 85 105). This is a new Mikro I bought just for roundwounds - my other has been strung with Rotosound RS88 tapewounds for quite a while and it took quite a bit more work to fit those up than the ZOG's. Looking and sounding good so far. I'll fit up the rest of the strings next .
EDIT> Got them all strung up - definitely feels different with the progressive tension but not bad. It will take a little getting used to but it's certainly the tightest "E" I've ever heard on a short scale .
