Zon Bass Strings ???

Sign in to disble this ad
Any one use or tried Zon Bass Strings. I tried them on a Zon Bass (oddly enough) and they felt good with that smooth nickel feel and had a nice growl which could be from the Bartolini pickups.
Any opinions.
Thanks.

Look for Angus - He seems to have an inside awareness of them, and really likes them a lot.

I used their nickel strings on my Sonus for years and they never let me down. I have also used them on a Jazz and a fretless P I used to own. They are well made, sound good, and have a good feel. I still prefer TI sets for most of my basses but Zon strings are my second most used brand. The original appeal was that they sold singles and I could build the EADGC set I wanted, plus they sell piccolo tuning sets. But I kept buying them because they were a good product.

I like the Zon Ultrasonic 45-105 nickels for fretless. My other favorite for fretless is DR Sunbeams. I also tried the Zon steel strings, but didn't like them as much. Too zingy. Nickel is more my sound.

I just put some Zon SS strings on my Peavey USA Millennium. I previously used DR SS strings which sound fine with it, but I was able to take advantage of a good deal on the Zons. I like the Zon stings so far, actually less zingy out of the box than DR (DR's settle down fairly quickly then sound good for awhile). If the Zons hang onto this tone for as long as my DRs used to, I probably continue to use them.

Give them a try if you get the chance.
