Hi Pat

My DB experience is a great one i'm offered gigs to play at but can't normally make it cause i can't solo and me comeing from EB to DB has been quite demanding i can't find tutors around who can mentor me through the begining stages of my DB playing i've just grown into the jazz but have a broad ear.My favourite bassists are Charles Mingus & Reggie Workman i want to be detained in a double
bass camp for a while and leave humming

We are our best teachers. Observation from others helps get us pointed in the direction we want to head. Get a teacher, yes, but be your own teacher too. In jazz, especially, we need solid rhythm players. Soloing is a lower priority if you want to get work right away, and the bass-lines are fabulous music. Some of the classic players, Mingus of course, Paul Chambers, Slam Stuart, Ray Brown ... have such musical lines, that they are solos in themselves, all the time.
Best to ya!
