Large instrument, small person

Hello,
I am in a quandry with my endpin. Set at the first notch, it allows me to properly reach the midpoint between bridge and fingerboard. Bowing (french) is fine here. It's a bit uncomfortable with my left shoulder and it seems like I'm reaching too high to play in the lower register.
So... I set the pin to be completely inside the body and it's awkward (leaning forward a lot to reach the right place on the string for the bow).
I've tried many slight angle changes and just can't find a truly comfortable place. I'm about 5' 5" and therefore don't have the longest limbs. Should I alter the endpin to try and find a happy medium? Is a 3/4 just too big for me? Should I just stretch more? Different bow?

I would be grateful for any advice you might have. Take care.

Bass too big?

Hi Anthony,
Just from your description here, it sounds as if your bass is too big for you. I hesitate to make any recommendations without seeing you. Perhaps you can post a private view on YouTube. I'd be happy to give you an opinion via pm.
