Is Tucson strictly a French town?

Dear Professor Neher,

I was wondering if anyone in Tucson plays and teaches German. It seems that everyone I know of in town is your student and, of course, plays French.

Thanks,
Susan

When I was playing tuba in the Tucson Symphony in the mid 60's I knew Kaspar Malone, the principal bassist . . . he used a German bow . . . but that was quite a while ago . . .

Well in my 26 years of teaching at the U of A, about half of my students were German bow players and taught on that bow. I am not the type to make a student play onle G or F. In fact all are encouraged (required at some time in their studies) to play/learn both. Check out www.arizonabassplayers.org for teacher listings. Call 6215822 for Dr Roederer who is a G expert. Best!
