Looking to persue a Masters in Jazz

I'm a bassist who graduated from a small school in Maryland called Salisbury University with a B.A. in music. I'm looking to persue a Masters degree with a focus in jazz. I have heard great things about your program, and it's the first school people suggest when I tell them my plans. Due to the fact that I attended such a small school, the only jazz education I recieved was my 3 years in the big band, one semeter of introductory jazz theory, and countless hours of independent meetings with my jazz band director. Much of the focus was on classical music, except when it came to me, the first bass major the school had in 30 years! For my senior project I did a history of the bass, beginning with classical pieces, then moving onto my jazz legends such as Paul Chambers, Charles Mingus, and Scott Lafaro. The second half of the recital was a tribute to Jaco Pastorius. However besides playing the music, and studying on my own I have never had any formal jazz lessons (not to mention my private instruction teacher was a cellist). I was wondering what is some of the basic jazz theory I should know before entering a masters program with a jazz focus?

Since graduating last may I have moved out to Austin, TX where I have been playing and studying theory and jazz history on my own. I just don't know what I should be concentrating the most on. Thanks for all your help.
