Unhappy Are my strings too tight?

Hi, I recently bought my first double bass, however when i play it, the overall sound is abit dull (mainly E string though) compared to other basses i have heared. i have the feeling that the strings might be too tight? If so, how do i solve this problem, or is there another solution?

Thanks

George

Hello George,
Sorry for the delay in getting to this message. For some reason, I have not been getting notifications about postings to this site. It is now fixed. I would suggest you consult a Luthier. If you bought it from a string shop, they should be able to help. They should be able to adjust the soundpost or action if needed. Maybe a different brand of strings would help.

Thanks Lynn.
George also started a thread here and got the answers he wanted, I think.

Best regards,
François
