practicing jumps

I'm using Ray Browns bass method book and in the chapter on playing 10ths it is necessary to jump to the 10th. However I often dont hit the right note. As I've heard its bad to practice mistakes - what is a good way to learn intervals that require a quick position change - cheers

I dont think the exercise on 10ths is about interval jumping. The 10th has to be played in one position on two different strings.
For example : C (use 2d finger on E string) and E (use 4th finger on G string) for a major 10th.
