Amplification clarity not mush?

Hi everyone.

I'm starting to play more slap now and I'm playing fast lines with double and triple slaps between notes. The problem I'm having is acoustically it is sounding fine to my ears at least, but what is coming out of my amp is generally mushy without clarity. I'm not happy with it.

Either is it the amplification system used or my technique. I'm using a wing transducer into a boss CS-1 into a MAG600H with 1x15" and 2x10". The CS-1 is for impedance matching and a level boost but otherwise the compressor on it is turned all the way down (though this could actually be a slow attack now I think about it)

That or it is the amp approaching feedback levels. Either way when playing fast lines I'm not getting the amplified clarity I want. Any advice on this or am I expecting too much and this is why when I see live acts there is no bass, just click?

Try using just the 2x10, and see if it clears up your sound any. I have noticed that most acoustic bass amps have smaller speakers than 15's.

After rehearsal today I think a bunch of it comes from ringing A and E strings excited by the slapping. I mute them as much as possible but I'll have a stab at muting them a bit better but amplified they sound off more than they'll sound acoustically.

This must be why I see that hand gripped tight around the neck moving around so much where as I'm used to playing with all my fingers articulating.
