Help me outttttt

Hey y'all

I play DB in my school's orchestra and I was finally able to bring one home with me. Being excited about finally being able to bring one home so that I could play along to some rockabilly/psycho it was brought to my attention how much more difficult it was to slap an pop the strings than on the ones from school...which is why I started searching up strings and blah blah n was how I came across this website. ANYWAYSSSS, I know here's been several threads about this but I just need some clarification.. I'm sure the strings on my DB right now are steel... An I've been hearing a lot about WeedWackers. I know Bass strings are not cheap, but just inform me on other types of strings...I'd wan to be able to play rockabilly/psychobilly but also classical...if that's possible using one bass. Also, if I were to have the bridge adjusted, how high up would it be from the f holes? Oh! And one last thing, if I were to get a DB, and would want to pain it, what would I use? I wouldn't want to go about using just anything lol....

Thanks in advance!

The middle of the bridge feet should be directly between the notches on the inner edge of the F holes. And make sure the bridge is standing straight up, not leaning towards the fingerboard.

If you want to play slap and classical, get a set of solo gauge steels, or solo gauge synthetic strings with a metal wrap. Nylon strings are too slippery to bow well. It can be done, but doesn't sound as good and is much harder to play.

Evah Pirrazzi solo gauge strings work well for both.

Guts. With the E and A being wound guts. Classical players used these for years before the advent of all-steel strings.

Be prepared to spend a lot of money, though.

I really can't think of any string that can do what you are saying other then guts. Then again, I feel I can slap perfectly fine on my belCantos.

If you are not going to be playing any classical or modern jazz, weedwackers will work absolutely fine, at 1-50th the price of guts.
