Innovation "Rock-a-Billy Golden Slaps"

As I wait for my new bass to arrive, I've been doing research into different strings. The Innovation Silver Slaps seemed to be most attractive to me by the way people have described them. So I looked them up online and found that Innovation also makes a set called Golden Slaps that seems otherwise identical, descriptionwise, to the Silver Slaps. Does anyone know what the difference between Golden and Silver might be? Even the selling price seems to be the same as the Silver Slaps....

They are the same string, just a different color option.

I think they would look pretty cool on a blonde bass.

Jerry Fretwell has them for sale. (he told me they are the same string)

I like the Slaps alot, they are by far my favorite nylon-type strings.

Actually the goldish color might look cool on alot of different colored basses. (hey Dire!)

Ha, I should have figured you'd be on TB... I've usually been over on the BG side of the tracks but have popped in here once in a while, now moreso since I'm expecting a DB via FedEx very soon.

Thanks for the tip! I'm about 95% sure that I'll pick up a set of Silver Slaps (I think goldish color would look weird on the bass I'm waiting for...)

Yeah man, that would be a good first choice for strings.

I went thru a ton of different strings ($$$) before I finally settled on these.

(I think I am done trying new strings anyway )

I agree that these are by far the best sounding nylons out there. My only problem I've ever had was my E string went bad. Developed a bad rattling overtone. Took it to my luthier, thought it was my bass, nope just the string. Pretty weird. Anybody else ever had this happen or heard of this?

Actually there's been a few guys that have had that same problem. It seems to be kind of flukey - not all of them are doing the buzzing thing.

I had some strange buzzing with a couple new strings I just bought, but the sound went away as the strings played in.

I got a used A that buzzed also, and the buzz took forever to go away.

I sent an email to Innovation about it, and they said no one else has said anything, so it might be a good idea for more people to email them. Might be some manufacturing issue, because the set of Slaps I had last year never did the buzzing thing at all.

I spoke to the guy at stringexpress in the uk, he told me there is only one person making these strings at the Picato factory. If these strings are individually made I would think the quality control would be second to none but having just put a set of Silver Slaps on my Bass I think they will take a while to settle down. A couple of them are still going out of tune slightly and were making some strange noises initially but after a few days are sounding and playing the best strings I have used so far.
Regards,
Dave
