Introduction

Just wanted to say hello to everyone here. I'm an old Surf guitarist whose friend has asked I play bass in his Rockabilly Band that he's forming. I was excited about the idea but informed him I neither owned a bass nor had any idea how to play one. "not to worry" he said "I can teach you". We'll see. So I did the ebay thing and got a bass, it should be on its way, joined TalkBass and now I'm just waiting to start, Thanks for all the great information you've already posted, I'll be reading and re-reading those for quite some time. Thanks again,

What bass did you go with on ebay? One of the cheaper ones? If so, please let me know how it goes.

I put in a bid on a King Slap Bass, I haven't got my hands on it yet though, hopefully I'll get it this week. I can't wait to get started.

Oh cool. When you said "ebay thing" I assumed you got one of the cheap basses on there.

UPS brought my new bass today-looked up some free online "how to " help and my band leader came by and showed me some things to work on. Yep, pretty happy right now.
