Just won a King Mortone!

Woo hoo! I just won a 1935 King Mortone. So excited!

Now who wants to tell my wife?

Here's a link with photos to the auction, and I'll post pics when I get it home to Austin next week!

Hi.

Congrats for what's going to be a great NBD.

My condolences for the possible diciplinary measurements taken by Your wife.

Do You have the money on your privete account?
Is there any way Your wife could buy the explanation of a friends bass in need of a setup?
What If You "found" the bass sitting in the locak pawn shop and bought 'er for peanuts.
Can You bribe her with shoes, a purse, jewels, etc.?

If You answer any or all of the above with no, You're screwed.

Regards
Sam

hmm

Well congratulations, but I'm sure you wife would not have minded if you indeed did "win" the bass, as in get it for free. That's what I thought when I read your title. It seems though that you instead just "bought" the bass with real money. Oh boy... you gonna get it!

I hear the ladies are all into $5000 hand bags, like the ones from "Sex and The City"...don't be too surprised if...

Longfinger, you make a good point. It felt like winning but I guess that's the secret of ebay. Women can't "win" those handbags, can they?

Wait, you didn't buy your wife something to go along with the bass? There's still time, man!

Congrats.

Over the years I, ah, "researched" many methods to get new musical items into the house.

Several years ago I realized that this situation was another opportunity to work toward being a person I would wish to be married to. (Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot for not acting right from the start. What can I say -- apparently I started at the back of the line in many respects.)

Since then everything has come through the front door. I feel much better. I think that Kathy feels better too, or at least less worse. So my two cents is to tell your wife everything in exactly the way you would most wish to hear it if your wife had won a $1700 prize.

Enjoy your new bass, hombre.

I have a friend who is always buying new guitars. His "solution" is to leave the house with an empty case, and return with the new guitar in that case. Once home, it just blends into the gazillion others he has in his studio. Me? I just mention such purchases to my wife, she listens, and I obey. Lucky for me that she supports my musical endeavors ... and I support her interests. Suppose that's why we've been together for 35 years.
