"Million Dollar Quartet"

Gets a good review in today's New York Times. Thought this pic was worth posting:

Here is a link to the review:

That would be a nice gig to have.

*bump* for the late night crowd that may not peruse the Rockabilly forum on the DB side of TB.

Question: would you let a guitarist stand on your bass if you got paid enough for it?

Looks like a million dollar quintet from here.

big heavy ply bass? totally. solid wood instrument? sorry, but it would be suicide. i've heard terrible stories.

Saw this show in London and it was soooo good! That photo is amazing, too! A Million Dollar Quartet London album from the cast recording has just come out which I got - loved it.

Caught it on Broadway a few months ago. Outstanding. Actors that can act and play, really well.

I believe I count 5, not 4. Unless the definition of quartet has changed since I last checked.

The play is based off of the original Million Dollar Quartet.... Elvis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis from Sun Records.

Just because there's a bassist and drummer (in the picture and onstage) doesn't mean they should change the name of the play, and what the play is actually about.

Why is everyone so literal around here? lol

I sadly haven't seen this first hand, but have heard nothing but rave reviews. My friend, Eddie Clendening, plays the Elvis part. He's been a fixture on the rockabilly scene out of Chicago for many many years. Corey, the bassist, does a damn fine job on the doghouse. Plays into the whole theater showmanship part very well too.... as seen in the photo. People are paying high prices for a high priced show!

I saw Million Dollar Quartet in London last week - really good stuff. Sad to hear it's closing in a few months!
