Question Renting a slapper in San Diego & Chicago

Flying into and traveling through San Diego in August and around Chicago in September. I'm hoping to find someone who will be able to rent me a decent slap bass instead of having to take my travel bass. I've tried looking through rentabass.com but most of the stuff posted there are either classical or straight ahead jazz basses. Anyone have any suggestions or connections?

Any thoughts would be invaluable.

Cheers and thanks!

Hammond Ashley

This company is local, and although I don't have any first-hand experience with them, they seem reputable - and, if they don't have a bass to rent you, they'll probably know someone who does. Can't hurt to give 'em a call:

Offices in Las Vegas and Indianapolis (so the cost might be prohibitive since the bass is not part of a complete backline package).

Be sure to tell them it needs to be set up for your playing style.

Did you ever find anyone in San Diego? We flew down for a show in October and couldn't find anyone with one set up for RaB (even Azola). Sure they could set one up for us but it cost more than it would've to just fly the bass down with us.

Anyway, we're slated to do some more shows down there this year and would love to find someone that has one set up for RaB at a decent rental rate. Would appreciate any leads.

Thanks!
