| | | | Is this kind of message even allowed in any other place that the "bassists wanted" section? I was under the impression it was not.

Facial hair? Slim or heavy? glasses? nose hair or not? one eye or both? two hands or one? Peg leg? hat? cattle? |

"Don't worry about knowing how to play upright bass or sing. We have all the props and we use backing tracks."

| | | | Hmmm... ...I thought you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting an upright bass player in Nashville. I mean it *IS* Nashville. And there are NO young and hungry musicians there who can be found, ergo, the TB post. Fishy, fishy...

Left of country?? So,, they want a rock bass player,(there is no country left in this town),,, for just another crappy new artist gig,,they really dont want a upright "player" they just think it might look neat,,maby like that lady singer,,Patsy somebody,,,and under 26,, so they just don't know when they'r being screwed over,,,,wait, under 26??,, age discrimination age discrimination!!! I think I'll call Dave Roe and both of us go show up for the gig,,,then call Bart Durham,, |

People that "listen" to music these days care about appearance a lot. This artist is simply trying to do what is best for her career. Lets face it, nobody cares if you can play like a virtuoso, as long as you put on a "great show", and look good doing it. It's not necessarily the way I feel, but it's the way many americans do. |

and, b) being below the magic age of 26 has nothing to do with appearance, or marketability. I'm 36, and I know an awful lot of 24 year olds that dress like dorks - and quite a few guys like myself - mid-thirties, that are giving music their best shot, and know what they're doing and dress hip. |

My dad is close to 50 and people always think we are brothers, but as someone who makes a living playing for a pop artist, I can 100% tell you that point A is not 100% correct. I am, by far, not the most marketable guy in the band, and fans give me a lot less attention that the other guys... and I'm a much better musician than they are. |
