Lower Body Stance

Hi David,
I recently read a post on the 2x basslist where it was suggested that for long notes , or legato, one could shift their weight on the ball of the foot from side to side (right foot for down bow - Left foot for upbow). This is supposed to make for a smoother transition of up to downbow(no stop or stutter).Do you have any thougths this, or the postioning of the lower body when playing in standing position.
