any advice to help me out would be greatly appreciated. i play with 4 friends of mine who are mega good at music but none play the bass so i picked it up mostly because i really do like the bass guitar and its something ive always wanted to do just never had the time till now. not trying to troll this forum at all. just really interested in some other good places to find great info books, sites, or just advice from you guys im sure alot of you have done this alot longer than i have. i play at a minimum 3 hours a day. well thanks again really glad to be a part of this site and hope to one day help someone else who is in my shoes. |
If you're playing three hours a day I would practice not only technique, but would learn and practice "knowledge" such as chord arpeggios, major scales, major scale modes, major and minor pentatonic scales, minor scales. Obviously this all takes time but is invaluable in creating bass lines in a variety of styles.
There are many sources to learn from but I will mention my 30 Day Bass Workout Book for technique exercises my Complete Electric Bass Method Beginning book for major scales, chords and Intermediate for pentatonic scales, major scale modes, minor scales and more.
Keep practicing technique and learning tunes but also learn about chords, scales etc..... to help you improve as a bass player.
