Mr. Overthrow: I own a Samick Artist Bass ... P Bass I've been told. I was planning to change the pickups to something better to gain more versatility. However, I am also thinking it might be time to move to a better Bass. I primarily play R&B and would also like to own a bass easier to slap. Question: With R&B in mind, would I be better off having a P Bass or Jazz Bass, and is there a particular Bass that comes to mind best suited for R&B? Thanks! Popa Smurf.

Sticking to the Fender styles, if you want to slap then a jazz bass is what you want. But a precision is perfect for fingerstyle RnB.
