Moveable anchor question

Sign in to disble this ad
Dear David,

I posted a thread about this a while back, but I'd like to get your opinion on the matter.

What do you think about the moveable anchor technique (that is, I've been resting my thumb on the string below the one I'm playing)? It feels most natural to me now, since I've been using it for a while.

My main concern is that it seems to slow me down on fast passages going UP, as my thumb has to sort of jump to the next string, but not going DOWN, as my thumb sort of slides from one string to the next. When I say up, I mean toward the G string, and down towards the low E.

What do you think?
