Eliminate Pots on Jazz Bass

With respect, I looked in the FAQ with the header as stated and found nothing, therefore, I shall ask.

I Bought a '87 J. The former owner of the bass removed the pots. I liked the live sound it produced. '89, it was taken from my van, as well as other gear.

I have an '05 J MIM. I'd like to remove the pots.

Q: Is it as simple as removing the pots and solder blk/blk - wht/wht - gnd/gnd?

Again, with respect;

Hey is it possible to put Fender Jazz pick ups in a SX bass?

I have this SX bass lyin around in my attic and I decided to do it up by sanding it down, re-modeling it and putting in new pick ups, bridge, machine heads, nut and volume/tone knobs.
Will I come across many problems or is it a waste of time, I haven't bought any parts yet but I'm finished re-modeling it. It'll cost about 350 euros to do it up. Should I go ahead or is it just a lost cause?

PICKUPS FOR FRETLESS J

Hi Folks,

So I want to upgrade the pickups of my Frankenstein Jazz Bass. The body is a Squier Affinity J that turned out to have an alder body, and the neck is maple with an ebony fingerboard on it. It plays well and I think is worth upgrading the pickups.

Complains: Week sound, annoying noise, lack of "mwah", low mids and warmth.

Looking for: The vintage J sound without the hum. I know these are two different worlds but I think there might be a solution. Noise is a big problem for me cause I play in a quiet trio and like to solo the bridge pickup when soloing but I don't want to sacrifice the J sound either.

Has anyone tried the "Fender American Vintage Noiseless J Pickups" and/or "Fender Custom Shop 60's J Pickups"? How noiseless is the vintage one and what is the tonal difference between them? Any other advice is also appreciated.

I know there are many discussions and info on the topic including the BP's Jazz Bass Shootout but Since my question is more specific, I wanted to hear your recommendations.

Looking forward to hearing from you all.
Best,
MY
