Gear - strings

Hello
I'm sorry for this stupid question but I'm very curious. What kind of strings do You use and gauges do You use? I like Your sound and music.

Not a stupid question at all. I use really light guage for my "solo" stuff, the stuff you here on my CDs, clinics, etc. My main basses are 5 strings and the tuning is E-A-D-G-C and I have a hipshot on the E so I can Dtune that string for lower registers.
For more regular gigs where I play more of a supporting role, I play medium guage.
I did not include the EXACT sizes because it really varies for me.

I did want to add that a lot of people assume I use a heavy guauge for my slap sound, but I find that the light guages are easier for me to play (I play really light) and they sound great!
Hope this helps.

Thanks. What do You think about slapping in heavier gauge? I'm thinking in putting in my bass 45 65 85 105 and 130/135. What do you think about this size of strings?
Best Regards

Like most things it's just a matter of preference. Find what works best for you.
I just like to tell people that you don't HAVE to go with heavier guage strings to slap because most student are under the impression that you can't use lighter strings for the slap style. Some people prefer heavy some light.
For me, to do newer techniques such as double thumbing I like the feel of a light string guage.

I understand You. I'm just afraid that slapping on this gauge of strings which I mentioned will by crappy. Normally I use black Warwick 40-130 and they are very comfortable for slapping but they are to light for me in fingerstyle. I must try some 45-125 or 45-130 I don't know.
