Hi Ray,

Hope you don't mind this type of question... if you'd rather not answer, I understand.

I'm wondering about your time in Halford; how you got the gig, whether there was much negotiation about the terms (i.e., did they just offer a particular deal, in terms of contract length/pay/etc., or was it more back-and-forth), or whether it was more casual, like musicians just working things out together as opposed to lawyerly dealings. Ok, what I really want to know is, in a situation like that, which I guess I would think of as medium-big rock star stuff, do you get your own room? If so, did you have to ask for it? I'm asking these things as a person who has had many hundreds of shared-room nights on the road, and am now starting to get some nights to myself on some gigs, and I like it! but, I don't want to tick people off by pushing too hard for perks like that.

I got the gig after auditioning for at the time Rob's band "TWO". I was invited to audition after being reccomended to Robs manager.
Each "CD cycle" (recording, rehearsals, touring, etc.) were worked out and agreed upon for what was "fair" at each particular time.
It's a good idea to have an attorney view anything you ever sign just to make sure it's fully understood and it's to your'e approval.
The room question is simply what is "fair". If everyone has to share rooms due to the budget than it's only right to be a team player, on the other hand if everyone has thier own room at the Hilton you should too.....I've done both........
I think it's your'e right to ask for certain things when working for an artist but at the same time it should be in the limits of what is fair and make sense for that particular situation.
hope this helps............

Thanks a lot... I think you're right about doing what seems fair... it always seems to be a balance of rolling with whatever comes vs. not selling yourself short.
