Question 140B Problem

My G string is perpetually flat. When I bring it up to pitch, it's a quarter tone flat after a few minutes of playing. Is this a symptom of an unravelling core?

The string has been fine for 2+ months. It just started doing this recently. I think Francois had a similar problem with a 140B core. I did re-pencil the bridge groove this morning but it's too early to tell if that helped.

No, my problem was with the outer wrap which came loose.
I'm staying away from synthetic core strings now.
The Dominants may be the best, but they're not designed to be used on smaller instruments, where the wound part may come over the peg and the string will likely break.
