Andrea Pighi, One of the bass gang member.

Hi.
Nowadays, I am very interested in double bass.
I am just beginner.
When I saw Italian group was named 'The bass gang' playing performance thru Utube.
Especially, the member who named 'Andrea Pighi', he is rendition playing bass pizzicato.
So I hope to know what he using bass strings.
Please let me know that.
Thanks for reading!

Do you have an URL to his performance?

That said, I guess he'd sound the same with any string on his instrument.
With the double-bass, the sound comes from you hands more than a given string brand.

I love them too. Great vibe, great concept and all monster players.

Pighi used Spirocore Solos tuned orchestra pitch last I saw them pictured.

All the rest use a mix of spiros on the bottom and Original Flatchromes or Flexocors on top, I think one uses all Flexocors--mostly light stuff. They all have outstanding basses worth more than my car.

As Franko mentioned the strings do not get that sound, neither does that big buck Italian bass. They help but I guarantee you if you played his bass exactly as he's got it you wouldn't sound like that.

You'd sound like you, whatever that sounds like.

This is one of those videos where someone needs to wander around with a hammer and nails to curb the foot tappers.

I have a few of their recordings, great stuff!
But, Like Francois said, just having the strings he uses will not make you play or sound like him.

I do know them, as I am Italian.
I can tell you they're absolutely amazing musicians.
Each of them is a an incredible doublebass player, and they lead some of the most incredible bass sections of Italian Orchestras.
They are not only incredible soloists...! If you 'd listen to how they could play orchestral excerpts, you'd be shocked.
highly recommended.
