Belcantos on a Shen Willow 3/4?

Anybody do this yet? What did you think?
Thanks,
Jim

Send a message via AIM to Kevin Hsieh
mighty specific thread here.

I believe Carlos Henriquez has this setup on his Shens. Hopefully he'll chime in if he sees this.

Mighty specific...

Hi Kevin,

Yep, agreed, mighty specific, but it seems everything is a variable - the bass, the strings, the bow...the player.

But thanks for responding, hopefully someone has something to say.

Looking for mainly arco experience, BTW.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim
I have belcantos on a la scala hybrid and they are great for arco. Really dry focussed sound. Dark and woody sounding under the bow. They start really easy. For Pizz they are sweet, mellow sounding but perhaps lack character. I switch strings for Jazz gigs. best of luck with your shen.

I have students with Bel Cantos on their Willows. They sound and play great, but these are two really nice willow basses they purchased at Ron Sachs in Atlanta.
