bowing "ron carter" black labellas?
How do these things bow? Ron's pizz sound is great, to me, but when I've seen him live there's no bow anywhere, even for tuning.

For me, these strings were next to impossible to bow. Even my instructor, who had 7710s on all three of basses, had trouble getting a consistent tone.
I loved the pizz sound, though.

i too found those black strings miserable for bowing. i attended a Ron Carter master class a few years ago and asked him about that, he said synthetic bow hair helps. i never had a chance to try that.
