Brighter Steels?

I've got Belcantos on my D and G and Spiros on the E and A. I'm curious if I might find something similar in feel to what I got but a little brighter on the top. Any thoughts? They gotta bow great which means they probably have to be an orchestra string that pizz well. Don't want to go with the whole spiro set...

Soon you will realize, like so many others, that you are on the long slow march back to Spirocores.

I believe the next step might be flatchrome steel or jazzers, my notebook isn't handy.

Or you could just leapfrog....

Flat Chromsteel aren't bad at all, but a bit thin diameter wise. Superflex G & D should work nicely and are brighter than Bel Cantos.

Right now I have SF G,D & A w/ a Spiro Mit E. Nice and bowable, w/ good focused warmth and enough piz brightness to give an edge to the darkness of my bass. The Mitt E sits nicely in the mix in band situations.

The SF G is a bit scratchy out of the box, but settles in nicely after awhile.

Love it, the new pragmatic Talkbass String forum. I can dig arco, really, as odd as that sounds but for pizz....I don't know, THAT would surprise me. It's sound advice however and I appreciate it. I do have some spiros around and when I get my bass back from the shop (big refurbish) I'll try them on for size.

Oh yea, that's the one I was thinking of....

The D is a bit thick compared to spiromit and belcanto but a decent sound. Thomastic and halfway to spiros.

yea, that's why I'm not using a Spiro Mit A next to it. Makes the A feel whimpy and thin in comparison, but the SF A is just fine next to the Spiro E. It's growly enough and you extra grab w/ the bow.

I must admit, however, I am pining a bit for the left hand feel of the EP's
