C Extension string - Solo Tuning?

I'm thinking of getting a set of Solo strings for an audition, but have a C Extension (handmade by Tom Barrett of doublebassireland.com ) on my bass.

I'm using Evah Pirazzi - There is no Evah D extension.

Any advice on how to deal with the Low C problem?

As I will have to play Excerpts too I cant just leave the C and transpose everything on the C string up a tone.

I don't like the idea of cranking the C to a D, but I don't see any other option, other than to stick with Orchestral Strings!

Check out Edgar Meyer's Solo tuning. C (ext. E) B E A. Works nicely for him. Gives a fifth on the bottom which sounds great.

EDIT- Use the search function to find the thread P.W. started regarding Edgar Meyer's tuning.

There is a Spirocore Solo F#/D Extension String, if that is an option for you.

On my last bass I had an angled hole drilled through the extension fingerboard right behind where the E is so I could put on a solo-tuned E string. It worked very well although I wouldn't suggest doing it yourself unless you're very confident you're doing it right.

Some possible options include spiro solos (already mentioned), Jargar Dolce, and Velvet Compas 180 SUIT. The last two are meant to be tuned to either solo or orchestra tuning. With Evahs I would probably go with the spiro solo for the low string.
