what is the best way to clean strings? how often should i clean? most of what i do is bowing, so there's some rosin caked in on my strings.

Thanks!

As a electric bass guitarist too, I've found myself a wonderful solution. It's the "GHS Fast Fret". Had been using it to clean my electric bass guitar strings and frets, and maintain the fret board. Grabbed the same for my double bass strings to clean off the rosin. It works!!

Very easy to use, as the cleaning liquid (mineral oil, non-silicone based) is within the applicator. Just rub the applicator on the string and wipe off using a clean lint free cloth. Done!

Rubbing alcohol does the trick and leaves behind no sort of residue. It also works for cleaning your fingerboard, just don't get any on your bass' finish.
