Cordes Lambert vs Gut-a-like

Anyone tried both of these sets? I listened to the soundclips and they seem to sound similar. I can't find much info on the gut-a-likes anywhere. How do they compare? Is there a difference in gauge? Does one work better for arco? The Gut-a-like website claims they're good for arco.

How would they compare to Eurosonics or innovation rockabillys? I'm interested in trying some strings like this if I can get them to work for a bit of arco, I'm a little wary of committing to altering my bridge though....

I can't necessarily compare the two, as I've only used Lamberts, but I'm happy with them. They sound great for slap and really good for pizz as well. The arco tone is really nice, but a little awkward on the E and A to me, but it can be done. I'm no arco expert, anyway. I'm very happy with these strings.

These are very low tension, gut-like slap bass strings with decent pizz-a-bility. I don't think either would be "good" for arco.

I wouldn't expect them to be actually "good" for arco either, I was just quoting what the gut-a-like site says.

"Gut-a-Like strings can also be played on excellently with the bow, so that they are a real alternative for Classic Bassists who play on gut strings "

Anyway, I only really play with the bow about 10 percent of the time so as long as they are possible to bow without sounding horrendous that would be ok with me.

all strings are a compromise of some sort. I play pizz about 60% slap 30% and bow about 10% so it's pretty difficult to satisfy all of those requirements. I used Innovation rockabilly strings for a while and kind of got tired of them after a while. they weren't too bad for arco, at least on one of my basses. What I miss most about them is their shear playability. I've always been intrigued by gut but have stayed away because I don't like the mixed sets with the wound E and A (too different to me when crossing strings) and the plain gut E's are just about unusable.

These seem like they could be pretty cool though. I got some actual weed wacker line from the hardware store a while back and while the quality was not very good, the sound and playability of them made me think that these might be worth checking out. Just wondering which set will suit me better. It looks like the gauge of the gut-a-likes might be a bit thinner, especially the E but it's hard to tell from the pics online.
