D'Addario Preludes for 1/2 size bass

Hi folks I recently bought a couple of sets of D'Addario Prelude strings on impulse. One set for a cheap EUB and another for 1/2 bass my better half is learning on.

They seemed reasonably priced and a good all rounder, (she wants to play bluegrass style) however, on another forum a member told me they were really high tension, the last thing I want to do is make it difficult for her to get into the bass.

The strings haven't arrived yet and I was toying with the idea of cancelling the order and getting Innovations.

Does anyone have experience of these strings and could give me some feedback. I noticed a regular talkbass contributor rates them and that cheered me up a bit

Thanks

Stevie

preludes

I have them on my bass and find them very easy for the left hand, and they sound good for old time and bluegrass,I think you will be fine. They have a great warm tone and are a lot better of a string than most people believe them to be ,and they are affordable.

They are indeed a bit stiffer than other strings like, say, Helicore Hybrids.
If you put regular size Preludes an her 1/2 size bass, she'll get less tension and may be better for a beginner.
But they're very nice for the price!

Corelli 380s (nickels) are also very good, and would be even easier to play for her.
And they're about the same price as the Preludes methinks.
