Damaged string? (DB forum)

I have a set of innovation honey strings about 3 months old taken off my old bass. The G string winding has pulled very slightly apart where the string goes over the nut it sounded fine on the old bass. Can I use this on my new bass or should I replace the string?

Wink

If the string is only 3 months old I'd take it back to my dealer and see if he'll get you a replacement. You could hardly describe it as 'fit for purpose'. In the meantime if you are a gigging musician I'd replace the string straight away, if not why waste money. Use it if it works.
good luck

Thanks, as I'm not gigging with the bass I'll give it a try. I think the problem was the "luthier" who fitted the strings after some other work wasn't up to scratch. The groves in the nut did the damage. and I'm not taking my new bass back to him to fix.
