Darker G string then belcanto?

While I love my belcantos, I wouldn't mind the G string being even darker. I've tried flexocors in the past, and they don't do it for me. I've been thinking of trying a jargar, but I'm unsure as to what gauge. What suggestions do yall have?

The D'Addario Prelude G is quite dark.

As for the Jargar, you can start with a medium gauge.

Do you play arco or pizz?

Putting a Pirastro rubber filter on the G string does a nice job, with any G.

I play strictly arco. The rubber filter is a good idea. I forgot about that one. Do you find the prelude to be darker than the jargar, and do you think either would be darker than the belcanto? Thanks for the help.

Since I don't play arco, I'm only speaking from a pizz POV.
The Jargar would be the darkest, IMO.

Hey, Joey - try an Oliv G and D . If you like, you can come try them first on my bass.
