Eudoxa back-ups

I just put some heavy tension eudoxas on bass and am very happy. The problem is finding something to carry in my case as a back-up in case one breaks on a gig. They say that gut strings have a limited shelf life, so carrying a set in my case for a year or more doesn't seem like a good idea. Does anyone know of a steel string with a somewhat similar tension, sound, and thickness, that I could slap on in an emergency while I wait for the eudoxa replacment string to arrive?

It's been awhile since I had Eudoxas on my bass, but I would recommend Dominants as a good back-up/spare (in terms of feel and sound). Except that Dominants are almost certainly more prone to breakage than Eudoxas...

I usually keep old steel strings around as back-ups (Spirocores or Superflexibles) because they generally tune right up to pitch and stay there, unlike gut or synthetic core strings. That's a pretty important quality in an emergency/on-the-gig string changing situation.
