Eurosonics verses Innovation Rockabilly

OK all you occasional slappers and pizzers who like low tension and old school Blantonish tone (or as close as you can get with a laminate and no guts)- I've read mixed reviews on these strings and can't decide which to buy to experiment with- YES I've been to Rockabillybass.com but would like a second opinion from guys who don't stand on their basses-
Not that there's anything WRONG with that, it's a free country, I guess I'm just a prude-

I haven't tried the Innovation Rockabilly. I'll probably experiment on these next.

I tried the Eurosonics and didn't care for them at all. They have quite a bit of tension. On the plus side, they have a smooth nylon wrap. Good tone, but the tension was too high.

I went from the Eurosonic to the Rotosound RS-4000. I like these strings a lot for slapping on an old Kay. I did have to return a set since there was a quality issue on the E and A string metal wrap.

I've used both these sets in the past. If I had to pick one or the other I would go with the innovation. Especially if you are going to be slapping. They have a nice smooth feel, low tension and a good slap sound. Not quite the organic gut slap but better than steel. They are very quiet when played acousticly as I remember, so if you are going to be doing any unamplified gigs keep this in mind.

As for the Eurosonics my biggest problem with them was the huge E string diameter. They are not as low tension as the innovations but they are still not bad for slapping. They are some kind of sythetic fiberglass or something over steel core. They can be a bit twangy which some people hate but on my bass it didn't bother me. They are much louder than the innovations when played acousticly so they would be a better choice for the unplugged type gig.

Probably about the same. Maybe a little quieter. But better tone than supernils. And they feel better do to the flat wound type of wrap. It's been a while but I think I went from supernils to innovations and was really happy with the change.
I then proceeded to try countless sets of steel strings so it's sort of hard to be exact about all this, but I do remember liking them quite a bit. They had a nice warm sound.

Eurosonic Bass Strings are now available in a light gauge and we are working on an ultra-light gauge as well.

The Ultra-lights should be available by the spring of 2004. We had a sample set of the ultra-lights at the recent NAMM show and they got very good remarks.
