Evah Pirazzi (Arco only!) X Obligatos, Spiros

Ok, so after a few weeks a read the megathreads on evah Pirazzi, and Obligatos.
being that i really don't like buying strings, I am wondering if anybody has experience with EP primarily playing arco? especially if you play with a section your input would be greatly appreciated. Also would be great if you can compare them with Obligatos.
I am currently using Obligatos for Orchestra but sometimes I wish the A and E would respond a little faster, and I don't want to go all the way to Belcantos, etc because I use that bass on jazz gigs sometimes. So i would rather stay in hybrid territory.
Thank you.

I like the EP's for orchestra in the section. They have a dark rich tone. The only other string I like for orchestra is. origional Flexacore. I do not like Obligatos. The seemed weak. Not really very dark or bright. I've had the EP's on only for 3 month's so the only question for me is:how long will they last? Because they have a synthetic core I would think they won't last as long as the OF's. They aren't as expensive though.

I forgot to say the EP's grab the string quicker than Obligato's.

I use Spiro Mittels now on my Lang hybrid and had been using regular EP's (w/ Helicore Orch. Heavy E.. I found the EP E to be a little lacking, at least on my bass). IME, the Spiros respond much faster than EP's, and they have more power/drive, a much more defined and clear pitch center/tone. After the initial brightness wears off they just sound better and better.. I've had 'em on since September and they're really starting to sound warmer and warmer now. Of course, YMMV on your bass. You could maybe try a Mittel E, Weich A/D/G set up.. the lower tension of the Weichs is supposed to give them a bigger and eventually gutsier sound (Weich users care to comment?).
