I'm in no way affiliated with Pirastro, although I've been sent a prototype of these strings, but it was an all-metal set and they had a synthetic core one in development too.
Regards,
François

Anyway, as long as the testers give the thumbs up to the strings, there's going to be some people buying these strings. Of course, we can expect a short lifespan, given the synthetic core and all.

It was a really good string, somewhat similar to the Jazzers, but with a warmer tone, and very long sustain.
I've written to Adrian Muller, Pirastro's technical manager, to ask him what they'll do with these prototypes. Quote: |

I wonder how the synthetic core set compares to Doms. |

I look forward to the reviews.. |

| | | | My supplier says these strings aren't shipping until June.
Moreover the selling price should be in line with most other strings.
That $300 may be a mistake or list price. |

They said maybe two weeks, which when dealing with American manufacturers means three months. With the Germans, though, it probably really means two weeks!

My brother once sent a postcard to my family from Europe once. He came back week after he sent it. The postcard arrived 2 weeks after he came back.

About the steel set: thanks for your input and I will let you know when there are news about these strings.
| So, I got an answer, but more to come later.
He'll send me a set of the synthetic core ones too.
I hope I'll like them better than the Obligatos, that I don't, in fact...

Personally I'm hoping that they can come out with these before I have to buy another set of Obligatos. The ones I've got on right now have about 8 months in them, and they're sounding GREAT-which means they'll be dead in another month or so.

The G sounds very very nasal and has too much sustain on my instrument and the D is extremely (too much) thumpy.
The E is floppy and rolling.
These (the Evahs) should be out within one month I think.
(fingers crossed!)
Regards,
François

Regards,
François | Yea, I don't get it with Obligati either. I think they are weak, rolly, floppy, uncentered and get swallowed up in a mix. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
