Evahs and Superflexibles on 43" mensure bass: which will be floppier?

Picked up a new used bass, 43" mensure, but surprisingly easy to play.

It's currently strung with Superflexs and they rattle a bit if I really dig in.

They're also a bit bright sounding, and I think the Evahs might be better on this bass. But I've never had evahs on such a long string length bass before. Will they be floppier than the SFs, or stiffer?

I think EPs are worth trying on any bass. My Shen is 41 1/4" and the standard EPs were most definitely not floppy. I currently have Weichs on it, and like them a lot.

Thanks salcott--that's not a very long mensure though...

Anybody? A comparison in floppiness on a long string-scale bass between SFs, EPs, and maybe EP weichs?

That would be great...

I play a 43" bass, and it wore EPs for about 8 months. They were definitely tight. The EPs loosen up a bit after a couple of months, but on my 43" bass, they were tight enough that I had to lower my action to get comfortable.

My point was that if they're not floppy on my bass, they are not likely to be on a 2" longer mensure.

Thanks pd--what did you replace the EPs with?

Thanks Salcott--2" in mensure seems to make a fair bit of difference in floppiness it seems to me, at least in my experience.

Have either of you tried the EP Weichs?

I currently have Weichs on my 41 1/4 Shen, and am pretty happy with them-as I posted elsewhere, they are, for lack of a better word, boingier without being a lot looser than the regulars. If I had a 43' bass, I'd get a set of each, try'em both, and sell the set that didn't work out. They seem to sell quickly on the classifieds.

I went to a Sprio E,A with Permanent G,D combination. Just about done with that now, tho. I'm actually digging my Med Helicores again. Haven't tried the EP Weichs, but I'm trying to go with the whole "if it ain't broke" thing for a while.

The grass is always greener, isn't it?
