Figures...

Been playing bass for 6 years, never broke a string until today. It figures that the first string I break is the E-string on my upright, and right before a lesson and combo rehearsal. Now I have a bass with a new Spiro E and older rest of the set. Guess I just need to even it out and play lots of pedal tones.

Well its not all bad. Putting on a fresh spiro E is like having a good cup of coffee and putting on fresh underwear.

Humor aside, I really don't find the A and E to be offensive at all when they're new. I just put a new set of Mittels on last week and I love the focused grumble I get under a bow. The G on the other hand...

In fact in the hours I was playing I think it sounds much more like I want my E string to sound, but that could be a combination of the slight shift in bridge and the new string, who knows.

I was just hoping the set would last until this summer when I move on to a better bass. Oh well, things happen.
