flatchrome steel or light gage d'addario

I like FCS as a low tension hybrid string. The sound is a little thin but I need the low tension due to an old arm injury. How do the light gage D'Aaddario orch or hybrids compare with the FCS? Years ago I used medium D'Add orchs & found them to be a good arco string that could almost work for jazz. The reverse was true for the medium hybrids. Any ideas on how either of these compare with FCS? I think they might be similar. I've tried most of the low tension alternatives. I'm realy only interested in D'add info for now. Thanks

The FCS for pizz is terrible. G is good. OFC G is better IMO.

Have you considered Evah Weich? A very surprising low tension string.

thanks Phil. FCS work ok on my bass for pizz, sort of like some of the corelis, but i like the FCS better. it's an acceptable compromise for me. they all sound a little thin. light d'add are one of the few things i havn't tried. i don't like the light evahs much for pizz, arco is pretty good for me with them.the evah lights are for sale.

btw, i use a 100 year old spiro weich for the e string. the FCS gets too dead down there.

Yea I dig all that.

I never liked the D'Addario bowed strings much on my two basses. Dead light ones do sound good on some basses though. I had a 50's Kay for awhile that sounded best with those things on it.

Worth a try. Darker than the FCS.

The light gauge Helicore orchestrals should sound warmer than the FCS, which are much too clear for me. (I don't find them low tension either)

do you mean the FCS or helicore don't seem low tension? how does the tension of both strings compare to that of spiro weichs. the weichs are my usual string, but i often use the FCS for a few weeks whenever my arm pain returns. the arm pain is my own fault due to getting lazy and forgetting to do my PT exercises.

I meant the FCS.
I find them quite tense, to be honest. (I'm excluding the E)
The light Helicores are less tight. (at least to me)
