G and A strings rattling on the fingerboard.

It's mostly my G string when I play A, But it is also my D string when I play E

When I get into the music my G and D strings rattle...and it bothers me. How can I fix this issue?

You need to have your fingerboard dressed by a professional luthier. If you site down the fingerboard from the scroll end, you will see high and low spots.

How low is your action?

And how is the rest of your bass set up?

Yeah stick a yardstick against your fingerboard -- you should see a nice scoop along the length of it. Yours is probably bumpy.

lol. A yardstick isn't going to tell you much unless it's REALLY bumpy. I guarantee it's got high and low spots.

Most likely the above is correct. Or, your nut could be low. (don't be immature)

Try to slide a piece of heavy paper or thin carboard, like a business card, under the strings all the way up to the nut. It's okay for that to be low, but there should be some clearance. Not a big repair if that's it, but for either it or the fingerboard, you'll need a luthier.
