I'm now using Olive G,D and Eudoxa A,E
I'm wondering to switch to a full Gamut experience, but i mind discovering that A and E silverplated a very same of eudoxa,(both pizz and bowing purpose) is it a wrong point of view?
Thank you for your time
Ciao

While I haven't had the opportunity to play Gamut wrapped E and A, I have used several wound low gut(E and A wound with round wire). They are much more open sounding than Eudoxa or Olive, and are harder to get going with the bow. Depends on what you are looking for. If you are trying to achieve the most traditional sound I would say go for it. |

I love the full gamut set, but for dryness reasons, I had problems with the E and A strings, I had to send them back and they rewound them for free. Meanwhile I tried Garbo and Spiro E and A, and I have to admit, even with the difference of tension, I kept the Spiro's on.

For the technique, i guess you will find out for yourself. My advice with your right hand is to play at the end of the fingerboard.

And because the Gamuts are lower tension than the Eudoxa's, the Gamuts when you play pizz sound and feel differently. The Gamuts can be played with much less effort, and they have that "pop" on the front of the note, and an expressiveness that i did not have to the same extent with the Eudoxas. Then again, the Oliv G comes close... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
