Gateway Oliv A?

I've been using a string set-up of Spiro Weich on the E&A with Oliv's on my D&G strings. I'm totally into the sound I'm getting, although I've been feeling a bit antsy as of late, I am almost getting the sound that I'm hearing in my head and I've had a hunch that an Oliv A is the answer to my restlessness. Anyways, the other day I bought the new Medeski Martin and Wood album and heard the sound!
I believe that Mr. Wood uses Olivs on ADG with a spiro on the E.
Before I drop the 125 dracmas on an A string, is there anything that I can do to hold me over for a bit. I'm wondering maybe, Flexocor A, a Permanent A, an Anima??? I'm kind of stuck for ideas. Does anybody have any suggestions?

PM me your address and I'll send you a used one. I had it on for a few months before I switched to a Eudoxa. The A is pretty thuddy compared to the D & G, and I would not feel comfortable selling a used string that sat on my shelf for a while. If it works out for you, do something nice for someone else.

If it does not work out, no loss.
