Have my strings just DIED?

My obligatos have almost no sustain anymore. Is this string death? They have more sustain on open strings, but practically none on fingered positions.

They are approx 10 months, so that sounds about right for their lifespan. The last set was a little easier to diagnose b/c only one string died at a time. This set has worn much more evenly so it has kind of crept up on me.

I think it depends on the sound that you are after. I myself prefer the way Ob's sound when they die down. The fundamental seems most pronounced and the overtones are more evenly pronounced.
