I would like to try something else, and since the Spirocore Weich set seems consistently highly recommended I was considering those. The luthier who set up my bass properly sized the nut and bridge slots to fit the Helicore Hybrid Lights and I would like to avoid having to modify them much. The diameters I have been able to find for the Weichs seem very close to the ones I measured (with an inexpensive set of dial calipers), so I think they will probably fit well.
What sound and feel difference should I expect from this change? I am a pizz-only guy (bluegrass), so differences in arco don't really matter to me.

I don't have any experience with the Spiros but I too bought a bass that had Helicore Hybrids, though I think mine were the mediums. I went with Corelli 370F the mediums and I really loved those strings. I didn't play a lot of arco, but they sounded great when I did, they broke in quickly and were very easy on the left paw.
In short I would highly recommend them especially for a player after my own heart/wallet jamming bluegrass.

Found a member here selling a new set for a good price, so the deal is done and now I wait for them to show up. Looks like I may have to widen the nut slots on the G & D due to the larger diameter, but it's not a lot of change: Code: Helicore Hybrid Light 0.044 0.053 0.084 0.111
Evah Pirazzi Weich 0.059 0.070 0.089 0.110

They are easy on the left hand, and they are hard on the left hand
They are louder than Spiros and aren't as loud as Spiros
They are very stiff, but they are kind of floppy.
Sure glad I read all that stuff so I know what to expect!
