Helicore Orchestral heavy gage for pizz

Any jazzers use these? I'm looking for a loud string thats a bit darker than Spiros. I would like to increase the acoustic volume of my bass over that of the Superflexibles I'm using now.

Ray Drummond uses them.
Higher tension doesn't necessarily means higher volume.
Your bass may get muted by too much tension.

Check the threads about Velvet strings.
Some of them seem to have lots of volume, although I don't recall which ones. Garbos maybe?
And they're not high tension methinks.

Helicore Orchestrals

I tried the Orch. heavies a few years back on a bass which was needing a neck reset. Shortly after that time, I had to retire the bass until I could afford the neck reset.

These strings had the thump, but I got better results with the Orch. mediums. The thing I liked about the Helicores was the fact that they didn't have that nasaly twang for the first 2-3 weeks like Spirocores. These were smooth from the start and they felt softer underneath the left hand.

Now, I've gone to the Velvet Garbos or Animas and guts.

Talk about decreasing the tension! BTW, I play bluegrass, so mine is all pizz.

Thanks
How does the volume compare between the Helicores and the Velvets?

Some of that depends on you becoming accustomed to a certain type of string.

The Helicores were pretty loud, but I think I'm getting as much, if not more, from the Animas right now.
